Use the Voice Search Function of Your Android TV Using an Infrared Remote Control

Before You Start

  • Your Android TV™ must be connected to the internet for the Voice Search function to work.
  • The RMF-TX200U Voice Remote Control supports the Voice Search function for 2016 Android TVs (D series Android TVs) only.
  • The Voice Search function isn't supported on Android TVs released in 2015 (C series Android TVs).

What Does It Do?

You can perform the functions below using the Bluetooth® voice command function on the supplied IR remote control:

  • Search multiple services - A list of relevant content or recommendations will appear on the screen across TV channels, recordings, home network, USB, Google Play™ Movies & TV, YouTube™ app, and more. Below are example of search phrases:
    • Name of TV show
    • Name of actress
  • Abstract search - Your TV will find the content you need. Below are example of search phrases:
    • Oscar nominated movies in 2015
    • Latest action movie
    • What is the title Jennifer Lawrence plays?
  • Ask questions - Answers will appear on the screen since the Voice Search is powered by Google®. Below are sample questions:
    • What time is it in Tokyo?
    • Who is the president of the USA?
    • Do I need an umbrella today?
    • Show me the recipe of the Indian curry.
    • What is the fashion trend of 2015?
    • What is the weather today in Sydney?
  • Control or operate the TV - The input or app will be activated. Below are sample control commands:
    • Go to channel 10
    • Change HDMI to 3
    • Open YouTube
    • Open program guide (any installed apps)

How Does It Work?

Follow the steps below to use the Voice Search function:

  1. Connect your TV to the network and log in with your Google ID.
  2. Press the microphone icon on the Voice Remote control and talk.

The remote control comes paired with your TV, but like other Bluetooth devices, it can be unpaired. Pair the remote control to resume using the Voice Search function .

Note:

  • After activation, the Voice Search function stays on for a few seconds only before it automatically deactivates.
  • The following languages are available with the Voice Search function:
