Can't Playback Content From My Server

Your Android™ TV can't play movies, videos, images, or audio files stored on your home network server if the file's codec is unsupported and you are connected through a proxy.

To playback files stored on your server, check the following:

  • Make sure that your TV supports the codec of the files you want to play. For supported codecs, check your TV Help guide .
  • Make sure that your TV isn't connected to a proxy server. Depending on your TV's software version, disable the Proxy settings.
    • For Android™ 5.0 Lollipop and 6.0 Marshmallow:
      1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Under the Settings category, select Settings.
      3. Under the Network & Accessories category, select Network.
      4. Select Network setup.
      5. Select Expert.
      6. Depending on your connection, choose between Wired LAN and Wi-Fi. If you choose Wi-Fi, you have to select your network's SSID.
      7. Select Advanced options.
      8. Select Proxy settings.
      9. Select NONE.
    • For Android 7.0 Nougat:
      1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Under the Settings category, select Settings.
      3. Under the Network & Accessories category, select Network.
      4. Select Network setup.
      5. Select Expert.
      6. Depending on your connection, choose between Wired LAN and Wi-Fi. If you choose Wi-Fi, you have to select your network's SSID under Available networks.
      7. Select Proxy settings.
      8. Select NONE.
  • Connect your TV and your server, or computer that has been made into a server, to the same network. Follow these steps to set the Network settings of your TV.
    1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
    2. Under the Settings category, select Settings.
    3. Under the Network & Accessories category, select Network.
    4. Select Home network setup.
    5. Select Media server troubleshooting.
    6. Select Yes.
