Do TVs that feature the Triluminos technology pose a health risk due to the cadmium inside of the screens?

Applicable Products and Categories of This Article

You can enjoy watching TV without risk of exposure to cadmium. The Color IQ™ component is placed inside the backlight unit of the LCD panel; the cadmium is fixed inside hardened resin and sealed in glass.

Additionally, the percentage of cadmium in the optical component used on these TVs is less than 0.01g per unit, which is approximately 1/500 of the average cadmium contained in a standard AA nickel-cadmium battery. The application of cadmium in the QD Vision's Color IQ optical component complies with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, adopted by the European Union. Sony® TVs that include the Color IQ optical component comply with all the environmental laws and regulations applicable in the regions where they are distributed.
