Various circumstances can cause an error code number to display on the camera LCD screen. Such instances could be caused by the lens not being attached correctly or perhaps an external flash not making a good connection with the accessory shoe. Issues with the recording media also could cause an error code number to display.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if an error code number is displayed on the LCD screen:

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the lens from the camera and then reattach it to make sure it is properly mounted.
  3. If an external flash is connected, remove it and then reattach to make sure it is properly mounted.
  4. Remove the recording media and then reinsert it to make sure it is properly inserted.

IMPORTANT: It also is possible that there may be an issue with the existing recording media or the recorded data. If the issue is not resolved after completing all of the steps in this solution, try using different recording media if you have another one available.

  5. Make sure the cover for the recording media is closed on the camera.
  6. Turn on the camera.
  7. Attempt to use the camera to see if the error code number reoccurs.
    • If the error code number does not return, no further troubleshooting is necessary.
    • If the error code number returns, continue following the steps below.
  8. Turn off the camera.
  9. Remove the battery for 30 seconds.
  10. Reinsert the battery into the camera.
  11. Turn on the camera.
  12. Attempt to use the camera to see if the error code number reoccurs.

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.
