An application has stopped error message is displayed when using the People application if the Tablet is changed to a different language.

Applicable Products and Categories of This Article

If you have changed the Tablet language and then attempt to use the People (formerly known as Contacts) application, you may receive an Application has stopped error message. This issue is being investigated by Sony and has been found to occur when using the following languages:

  • Español (Spanish)
  • Deutsch (German)
  • Français (French)
  • Italiano (Italian)

As soon as a resolution becomes available, this solution will be updated. Until a permanent resolution becomes available, follow this procedure as a workaround for this issue:

IMPORTANT: Before attempting to complete this procedure, make sure that you have added a Google® account to the tablet and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network .

  1. Change the Tablet language to one that is not affected by this issue.

    NOTE:  We recommend changing to English (United States).

  2. On the desktop, tap the Home icon. Image
  3. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps icon. Image
  4. In the Apps screen, tap the People icon. Image
  5. In the People screen, tap the New Contact icon. Image
  6. In the New Contact screen, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the appropriate information associated with that contact, and then tap the Done icon. Image
  7. Change the Tablet language back to the preferred language.
  8. On the desktop, tap the Home icon.
  9. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  10. In the Apps screen, tap the People icon.

The People application should now open properly, in the preferred language, without displaying the error message.
